Away

Spread the love
Away

Perhaps we were too drunk to remember,
The silky stir of your hair, tickling my shoulders,
I think I remember feeling that,
The awful horror in your eyes seeking solace in mine,
With the alcohol numbing the pain for the minute,
But, your eyes still couldn’t hide,
Or play dead.

Your cute comforting smile,
Lying before your wretched eyes,
I saw us, in the mirror,
As flawed as we were.

But we were together,
Hurt,
Torn,
Apart,
From everything real and legit,
Clinging on to each other’s warmth,
In our own separate place,
It felt good,
I remember that.
